Kwasi Appiah: 'Never say never, we can still qualify'

The Black Stars' hopes of reaching a fourth straight World Cup seems fading away after being held at home to a 1-1 draw by Congo at the Baba Yara stadium

Ghana coach Kwasi Appiah still remains optimistic that his side will still qualify for the 2018 World Cup in Russia despite sharing the spoils with the Red Devils of Congo on Friday.

"I go into every game looking to win. Never say never. Anything can happen [and we can qualify to the World Cup".

Almeria forward Thievy Bifouma opened the scoring in the 18th minute while Thomas Partey scored a late equalizer for the Black Stars in the 86th minute.

The 2006 World Cup quarter finalists have now gone three games in the qualifiers without a win as they were held twice at home by Uganda and Congo and losing to Egypt in Alexandria.

They are now third of the group with 2 points behind leaders Uganda (7 points) and Egypt (6 points).
